Aherin Dickson

I'll never step foot in this store again. A little over a week ago, a went to this Office Depot to recycle some ink (i had 13 cartridges). The cashier, who I wish i could remember her name as I completely blame her for this snowball of horrible service, tells me a) that I will receive 26 dollars in credit (in which i find out today that I can only turn in 10 a month, so she's already stole three of my cartridges) and b) my funds would be available once I create an online Office Depot account. What she failed to relay to me is that these funds have an expiration date of one month and that I would have to spend 10 dollars before the funds were available. My issue with this is that I had been selling the ink online for more money, but for convenience sake I was taking it to Office Depot. Knowing this before hand would have definitely changed my feeling on taking it here. But beyond that, this would have just been a minor inconvenience or a reminder to me to read up on offers instead of taking a cashiers word for it if it weren't for what happened a week later. I show up to the store to buy some paper for my wife and I was told that I have no funds. The cashier also cannot tell me why i have no funds (at this point, i just assume that the cashiers are very undertrained), so i ended up talking to who i assume is a store manager, Hunter. **DISCLAIMER - Hunter was awesome. In no way was any of this his fault and he was very patient in helping me work through all of this** We look into my account and the system says that I don't have one (which I made the day of). He asks me if I have a receipt, and I tell him no because the cashier told me one week ago verbatim "you don't need to keep the receipt. They can look up your account with your number". But I show him that I've been getting emails from my account on my phone and we decided to verify and log in in various methods. This all takes roughly 20 minutes so I'm already fairly annoyed that buying paper has taken this long. Finally I end up going into my emails on my phone and finding my membership number. He's able to use that number to finally find my account, and it still says that my account has a zero balance. So he tells me to contact customer service. After going through the recorded menu, I was told that customer service was closed. At this point, I'm really just over it. So I tell Hunter don't worry about it and I just leave. I don't know if it was an error on the cashier's part or the online system is flawed. All I know is Office Depot definitely just conned 13 ink cartridges out of me and I don't have the time or energy to put up a fight in getting it back. TL;DR - Wen't to Office Depot to buy paper with credit from ink I'd recycled a week before. Spent roughly 40 minutes in the store trying to figure out why I didn't have funds availble even though I had proof I turned in the ink and had an account. Left the store without my ink, paper, or my credit.
