Meh.
First let me say, the service is great. Very nice, very attentive, quick on refills, fast on taking orders and bringing food.
But the food... not so great. It's not that it's terrible food, it just isn't good.
The tortilla chips and salsa are gratis and came right away. The chips are fine but the salsa is just crushed tomatoes with maybe some seasoning. No onion, no cilantro, just crushed tomatoes. Meh.
I ordered a favorite of mine, Chiles Rellenos. They tasted reheated, like they had been made, frozen, thawed and then heated. The egg batter was dry and leathery with a bit of a bitter burnt taste. The chile inside was mushy and flavorless and it had almost no cheese stuffed in it. The sauce was also bland and had a weird, unpleasant texture.
The rice was dry - drier than any other Mexican rice side I've ever had. The beans were the tastiest part of the meal but the portion was small and they were just... meh.
My husband ordered Camerones a la Diabla (She-Devil Shrimp) and it's supposed to be spicy. I know you see where I'm going with this! It was not. Actually, it was quite bland and the shrimp were tough and overcooked.
There are a lot of Mexican places in the area and since our favorite, Morelia's in Bulls Gap, closed down, we've been looking for a new favorite. This will not be it.
